Neil Kaplan is best known for having been a voice actor on video games, anime and children’s
television.
He grew up in San Jose, California watching and then performing musical theatre in the 1970s & 80s. After studying at both
U.S.C. in Los Angeles and AMDA in New York City, he then spent time performing stand up comedy as well as wrote and co-hosted
B.A.C.E. award winning local television.
Although he started his voice over career with impersonations (Gene Simmons on “Kiss: Immortals”) he is more often
heard these days using one of many dialects at his disposal. Previous work includes British, Scottish, Australian and in 2007
alone he was hired to play a Russian six times.
Neil’s voice over work on television has included several seasons on various versions of the “Mighty Morphin’
Power Rangers,” as well as the popular series “Digimon,” “Higglytown Heroes,” and the quirky
“Tokyo Pig.” To this day, however, he is best known around the world as the voice of the iconic hero Optimus Prime
on the animated series “Transformers: Robots in Disguise.”
He has kept very busy the last few years giving voice to dozens and dozens of people, animals, aliens and other creatures
in the world of video games. Perhaps you or someone you know has heard him laughingly taunt you, gasp in pain, or even die
a horrible death. Titles include “Bee Movie Game” “Conan,” “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic,”
Justice League: Heroes” “John Woo’s Stranglehold,” “Spider-Man 3,” “Lord of the
Rings,” “Medal of Honor,” “Command and Conquer 3,” “World of Warcraft,” and the
infinitely popular “Everquest.”
Besides his voice over work Neil has been a Big Brother since 2000 and is actively involved with the Braille Institute.
Oh, and at one point he was even the voice of Sunshine Bear of the Care Bears.
