MERCEDES NGOH

Mercedes Ngoh was born in Ottawa, Canada, to a Spanish mother and an African father and is the second oldest of four girls. A natural dancer and gifted athlete, Mercedes began to study classical ballet and gymnastics concurrently for over 12 years. At the age of 10, a gym coach noticed Mercedes natural jumping ability and convinced her to compete in both the high and long jump track & field events. This was the beginning of a very successful track & field career that earned her many athletic awards throughout Canada during her high school years. Mercedes was very much an active member of many school teams and received much attention for her work in both the drama and dance departments. As graduation approached, Mercedes' love for performing grew so great, she turned down local university acceptance offers and headed to California to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. At 18, she moved to San Francisco and on her 2nd day there she auditioned for and landed, a role in a production titled "Backstage on Broadway" at the College of Marin. Mercedes began to study acting and singing at the prestigious American Conservatory Theatre and Blue Bear School of Music. It was on her way to an acting class when Mercedes was spotted by a scout from a local modeling agency. Her 5'9 frame, exotic looks and slender dancer's physique was a perfect match for runway modeling and she began to get booked for many shows about town.

It was a call from her agency that led her to the audition for the role of "Jabba's Dancer" in the special editon re-release of Return of the Jedi. After a couple of callbacks Mercedes was informed she had landed the role. It was after the filming of ROTJ that she decided it was time to move to Los Angeles to pursue her career further. While still acting and modeling, Mercedes is concentrating on her singing and songwriting, and
studies under vocal coach Roger Burnley. She is now working on completing her first album which she hopes to have finished within the coming year.
