Don began his film career in 1985 and started working with Lucasfilm in
1987, operating teh R2 unit for a series of Japanese TV commercials. Also, when ever a fan has seen R2-D2 (the radio controlled
version) make a live appearance, it was Don behind the scenes. That's right! When you saw C-3PO and R2 on stage with John
Williams directing the Boston Symphony- Don was there. Don also worked for ILM as a puppeteer, creature maker and modelmaker.
He's worked on some great films including Ghostbusters II, Radioland Murders, Starship Troopers, The Mummy, Galaxy Quest,
Pearl Harbor and A.I. (to name a few). After a long run of being R2's "helper" Don was hired full time to "assist" our favorite
little droid in "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace" and "Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones". (You can't expect
actor Kenny Baker to bake himself inside the R2 unit in the hot desert do you? No! That's where Don comes in). Real fans are
in for a treat! Don can also be seen in "Return of the Jedi: Special Edition" as two charcaters! He was lucky enough to be
Boba Fett and Jabba's band member Barquin Dan when Lucas reshot the Jabba's Palace musical number! Fans should also look our
for Don's little R2 film that he co-wrote and co-directed called "R2-D2: Beneath the Dome.
NOTE: DON did all the R2-D2 remote controlled units FOR STAR WARS: EPISODE 3
